Duvarita

It has long been recognized that quality, in part, comes from working at the edge, where the subtlety in the expression of the vineyard can be identified. The purity of this expression is reached when man and nature work together in partnership so that finesse and flavor precision is paramount and the benefits outweigh its inconveniences.

Duvarita, is without a doubt, a vineyard that lives on the edge.

Planted in 2000, the vineyard totals over 26 acres. The site consists of two south facing slopes with a small flat step in the middle. The elevation starts at 180 feet and tops out at 370 feet above sea level. The vines are planted close together and low to the ground to protect them from the ocean breezes and provide heat from the soil. The sandy soils provide light reflection and are well drained. The Marina soils in this vineyard are gently sloping to moderately steep and are on short rolling dune-like slopes at elevations of 100 to 700 feet. They formed in old sand dunes near the coast, in Lompoc, CA.

The vines are planted close together and low to the ground to protect them from the ocean breezes and provide heat from the soil. The sandy soils provide light reflection and are well drained.

Duvarita produces one of the most singular Syrahs year in and year out (when it fully ripens). Biodynamically farmed by Brook Williams.
